Utamaro and the Lure of Japan” is a celebration of Japanese art at the Wadsworth Atheneum and a rare opportunity to enjoy the museum’s exceptional collection of paintings, prints, ceramics, and more.

The reunion of two large-scale paintings by ukiyo-e artist Kitagawa Utamaro–the Wadsworth’s own Cherry Blossoms at Yoshiwara and its recently re-discovered compainion Fukagawa in the Snow, which will travel to Hartford from Japan’s Okada Museum–is central to the exhibition.
