ART AFTER DARK: THE LURE OF JAPAN
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2 | 5-8pm
Join us after hours to explore the museum and celebrate the special exhibition Utamaro and the Lure of Japan with music, activities, food, cash bar, and a film!

Enjoy performances by Taiko drummers, music by NYC-based DJ Keiichiro Nakajima, origami and Japanese language lessons, and a Kimono dressing workshop. Plus, visit the Wadsworth Atheneum’s Izakaya–our Pop-Up Sake Bar!

Curator Oliver Tostmann will give a 30 minute tour of Utamaro and the Lure of Japan at 6pm, and artist Valeska Soares will give a talk about her MATRIX 176 installation in Avery Court at 7pm.

A screening of the Japanese comedic drama Shall We Dance? (1996) begins at 8pm, and is included with Art After Dark admission.

Tickets are $10/$5 members, and will be available at the door.

Art After Dark: The Lure of Japan is sponsored by the Costume & Textile Society of the Wadsworth Atheneum.
