NEW ORLEANS CAN-CAN DANCERS TO KICKOFF MOULIN ROUGE!

 

Friday, April 21, 5 – 9 p.m. 

 

NOMA’s springtime Movies in the Garden series will feature the musical Moulin Rouge! The hit film from 2001 stars Nicole Kidman as Satine, the most beautiful dancer at the most notorious Parisian nightclub of the 1890s, and Ewan McGregor as Christian, a young English poet who pursues this elusive star of the bawdy revue. (Watch the original trailer.) Moviegoers are encouraged to kick up their heels with an audience-participation demonstration of the can-can by Trixie Minx Productions and Fleur de Tease prior to the screening. Admission is $12.00 adults | $10.00 seniors | $6.00 children (7-12) | Children 6 and under are free | $8.00 university students with valid ID.

 

The evening’s lineup in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden includes:

  • 5 – 7:30 pm: Art on the Spot family activity table
  • 5:30 – 7:30 pm: Music by Greg Schatz and the Friggin’ Geniuses
  • 7 – 7:30 pm: Can-Can dance demonstration and audience participation
  • 7:30 pm: Moulin Rouge! screening (Rated )

Food trucks from Crepes á la Cart and Frencheeze will offer French-inspired fare and a cash bar will be set up near the screen in the oak grove.
