SU-CASA 2018 Applications are now open! NYC

I’m pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for SU-CASA, our community arts engagement program that places artists in-residence at senior centers across Manhattan. Selected artists receive a stipend in exchange for creating and delivering arts programming for seniors.

A collaborative effort to enhance the well-being of older adults through arts-based activities, SU-CASA is a partnership between New York City Council, Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), Department for the Aging (DFTA), and arts councils in the five boroughs.

This year, the program almost doubles in size: LMCC will place 18 artists in 18 senior centers across Manhattan, instead of 10 like in previous years!   SU-CASA is an amazing opportunity to engage with seniors in New York City’s diverse communities, and it holds a special place in my heart. Each year, with this program, I witness first-hand the heartwarming and enduring relationships that artists develop with the seniors and staff at senior centers, the wonderful art projects they create, and the positive impact the arts have on the lives of seniors and the community at large.   Please note that LMCC will only accept applications from individual artists with a residence or workspace in Manhattan. We encourage individual artists to apply to the local arts council in the borough in which they reside, and arts organizations to apply directly to the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
