—O+Festival—Poughkeepsie, NY—August 3-4. Artists and musicians/bands are encouraged to make submissions to this year’s festival. The theme is “Shadow.” If you are chosen to install artwork or play a concert during the festival, you will have access to a complimentary health and wellness clinic staffed by art-loving volunteer providers. Deadline: April 13.

Urban Landscapes, Suburban Scenes, Rural Impressions—New York Center for Photographic Art, NYC. Photographers worldwide are invited to submit their interpretations using any photographic process (print, image transfer, emulsion, transfer, encaustic, black and white, color, etc). Deadline: April 23.

—Brightwork: A Makers’ Festival—Hudson River Maritime Museum, Rondout Waterfront, Kingston, NY—June 23-24. This juried festival focuses on the art of craft and is looking for an eclectic mix of artists, artisans and makers. Woodstock Public Art Project: Park the Art—Town of Woodstock, NY, June-September. Entries are sought for a public art project by four different artists, one each for the months of June thru Sept. The project involves inscribing a large central gravel parking area with about 1.5 acres of useable space with a drawing/diagram of the artist’s invention using crushed white limestone chalk (non-toxic and environmentally friendly) from a roller of the type used for sports fields. Visual modalities are open, from abstract to patterned, referential and semiotic markings. Proposals due April 30.

Solo Shows at Locust Grove Estate—Poughkeepsie, NY. Locust Grove, the Samuel F.B. Morse Estate, is partnering with the Barrett Art Center to announce four Solo Show opportunities in 2019. Each 10-12 week show presents artists with the opportunity to present a solo show of 20-30 artworks in the Transverse Gallery in the Visitor Center at Locust Grove. After selection, artists are encouraged to develop new works of 2D art for this exhibition opportunity. Deadline: May 1.

The 2nd Half—For Artists 50 and Over—Las Laguna Gallery, Laguna Beach, CA—June 7-29. Local, national and international artists—professional and amateur—are encouraged to submit their works. There are no restrictions on content, style, medium or context, and work may be traditional or digital. The talent and wisdom of the artist over 50 will be celebrated.

—COLOR—Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, Brooklyn, NY—July 28-Aug. 19. This juried competition is open to all residents of the U.S. and its Territories, 18 years of age and older, working in all traditional and non-traditional 2D and 3D media.
