What is Pop Art? How and why did Pop Artists incorporate commercial imagery (including mass media, consumer goods, and everyday items) and techniques into their artwork, and what was their impact on American popular culture in the 1950s and ’60s?
Entitled FUTURE EMERGING ART AND TECHNOLOGY, the exhibition presents a series of works of art created during collaborations between six internationally acclaimed artists and cutting-edge scientists.
The Rakow Research Library, such as advertisements for glass eyes, patents for preserving the dead in glass, and drawings by world-famous artists, have inspired artists and other glass enthusiasts.
On Friday the group will leave WAM (Holiday Tour bus) and check-in to the Hotel Indigo in Asheville. After checking in, the first stop will be to the home and studio of collectors, Hedy Fischer and Randy Shull.
